The Wellness Industry Doesn’t Want You Truly Confident. - Here’s Why I’m Calling It Out.
Alright, I’m going to be the whistleblower here.
Not because I’m bored or defiant, but because I really care about you and because I can’t keep quiet when I see something that keeps women spinning their wheels.
Here’s the thing: the wellness industry in Australia is worth $1.8 billion.
That’s a lot of sound baths, yoga mats, green juices, supplements, retreats, and “self-care” products. And yes, I offer some of those things myself, I love them, they have their place for sure. But there’s a hard truth we need to talk about:
For most people, all of it is temporary.
You walk out of the retreat on a high, but within a week, the inbox stress is back.
You feel blissed out after a sound healing, but the self-doubt creeps in by morning.
You take the supplements, but the knot in your stomach hasn’t gone anywhere.
And here’s why…
Self-Doubt Isn’t Always a “Mind Problem”
When self-doubt hits, when you can’t find the words, when your hands shake, when you suddenly feel like you don’t belong, it’s not always because you’re unprepared or untalented.
It’s often because your physiology has shifted. Your body doesn’t feel safe at that moment, so it pulls you out of flow.
And here’s the part no one tells you: You can’t bully yourself back into confidence. You can’t “positive-think” your way there. You have to return to the body.
Because when the body feels safe again, confidence comes back on its own. You don’t have to force it.
Why the Wellness Industry Avoids This Conversation
If more people understood that confidence starts in the body, not in the mind, the industry would lose its grip.
Because when you know how to regulate your own nervous system, when you know how to read the signals of your body, when you can create that deep safety for yourself… you don’t need constant topping up from the outside.
You stop booking the quick fixes just to “feel okay” again.
You start using wellness experiences to deepen what’s already solid not to patch holes every time you spring a leak.
That doesn’t make the industry money. Which is why no one’s shouting about it.
What Real Confidence Looks Like in Everyday Life
When you’ve built that deep, embodied confidence, here’s what happens:
You can feel anger without apologising for it.
You can feel sadness without hiding your tears.
You can be joyful without guilt.
You can speak your truth without rehearsing it in your head ten times first.
You stop shrinking yourself to make others comfortable.
And when you do walk into a retreat, sound healing, or holiday, you’re not there to fix yourself, you’re there to expand. To receive. To let go of another layer.
The Loop You Stay Stuck In Without It
If you don’t build this kind of embodied confidence, you’ll notice a pattern:
You keep saying yes when you mean no.
You keep burning out because you’re holding everyone else together.
You keep triple-guessing yourself.
You keep apologising for your needs.
And you keep spending, not because you’re bad with money, but because you’ve been trained to believe the next purchase will be “the thing” that changes everything.
It’s not your fault. This industry was built to keep you in that cycle.
When Confidence Collapses
Let’s talk about the moments when your confidence drops out from under you.
You might call it “stage fright” or “overwhelm” or “losing your nerve”, but what’s actually happening is your physiology has shifted.
Your body no longer feels safe, so it shuts down access to your full capacity. That lump in your throat, that pounding in your ears, that blank mind, it’s all your nervous system trying to protect you.
That’s not weakness. That’s information.
It’s your body saying, “Something here doesn’t feel safe, let’s pull back until we know it’s okay.”
When you learn how to hear that message and respond, to bring your body back into regulation, your trust, your composure, and your confidence come back naturally. No forcing. No faking.
The Legacy No One Can Sell You
The biggest reason the wellness industry doesn’t want you to fully embody this kind of confidence? Because it’s yours for life.
Once you’ve got it, you pass it on. You model it to your family, your friends, your community. And there’s no dollar value they can put on that.
It’s not a subscription.
It’s not a package.
It’s not a product.
It’s a state of being. And you can’t outsource it.
The Work That Actually Changes Everything
I’m not here to tell you to stop going on retreats, or stop having massages, or stop joining beautiful wellness experiences. I’m saying do the work that means those things stick.
Build the confidence that lives in your body. Learn how to feel safe, connected, and in rhythm. Learn how to read the signals in your own system so you can respond instead of react.
That way, when you invest in your wellbeing, it’s not a band-aid. It’s an upgrade to something that’s already solid.
If you’re ready to stop relying on quick fixes, and start building the kind of confidence no one can take away from you, I can help you get there.
